When Cate Blanchett appeared on the red carpet last month wearing a top made entirely of spoons, she caused a real fashion sensation.
The Oscar winner wore a total of 102 old, unusable spoons and with this unusual styling, she attracted everyone's attention.
Kate, 55, repeated this daring feat at the Toronto International Film Festival a few days ago.
The Australian woman was wearing old spoons again, this time as accessories to her black shirt.
The two pieces, where this cutlery plays a major role, are the work of Swedish designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson.
In her studio in Stockholm, she transforms used items into valuable fashion stories.
In addition to spoons, Ellen uses belt buckles, ashtrays, trays, and the like.
All of the vintage spoons needed for Kate's styling were sourced from rural Stockholm. They were later given their final role and shape in Larsson's studio.
The designer, with whom Kate has been working for some time, has been nominated this year for the prestigious LVMH Prize, which is awarded to the most successful new designer.
Blanchett's personal approach to fashion is similar to the collections Larson creates, which are sustainable pieces, i.e. recreating something new from old material.
The actress herself has been wearing the same creations several times for years and doesn't think it's mandatory to always appear in something new.
And when she chooses something for the first time, Kate makes sure it's made from environmentally friendly materials.
