Novak Djokovic won the Olympic gold medal for the first time in his career in the grand final against young Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz.
This was Djokovic's fifth appearance at the Olympic Games, but his first time in the final and winning the long-awaited gold medal. Interestingly, he is the oldest tennis player to have participated in a tennis final at the Olympic Games, while his opponent Alcaraz is the youngest tennis player to have reached the final of the Olympics, and it was the two of them who met on the center court in Paris.
The gold medal at the Olympic Games was the only trophy missing from his long list of titles. This was his dream that he finally realized for himself, for his team and family, and for his Serbia.
After winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, there is no doubt that Novak Djokovic is the best of all time or as they say: GOAT – Greatest Of All Time, although he fully deserved this epithet before.
The emotions at the end of the match overwhelmed Djokovic, who could not hold back his tears after realizing his greatest dream. Incredibly focused and dedicated to the game, prepared both physically and mentally, and thanks to the experience he has at the age of 37, Novak Djokovic wrote history that hardly anyone will ever be able to repeat. Despite the great obstacles over the years, injuries, challenges from critics and competition, and recent knee surgery, Djokovic was simply motivated to win, to complete his tennis portfolio and to prove to everyone that he is the best. With 10 Australian Open titles, 7 Wimbledon, 4 US Open, 3 French Open and 1 Davis Cup, winning the Olympic gold was the culmination of a brilliant career and ascendance to a throne on which there is no place for another player.
And as always, Novak Djokovic immediately went to his family and team to celebrate the victory, and we enjoyed the scenes full of love and emotion after such a grandiose achievement.
