For the first time, a transgender person has been chosen as Model of the Year

Transgender model Alex Consani made history after being named Model of the Year at the Fashion Awards in London.

Consani received the award from activist and model Ashley Graham and said that all diversity in the industry should be accepted.

The model, who is only 21 years old, has been working for the IMG Models agency since 2019, which is known for its engagements with Claudia Schiffer, Hailey Bieber, and the Hadid sisters.

Alex became famous through the TikTok app, where she has more than 4 million followers.

The prestigious Model of the Year award combines the opinions of a select fashion jury and the results of a public vote.

The main characteristic by which a model is selected is the impact he/she has on a global level in the industry, over a period of 12 months.

Alec, along with Valentina Sampaio, were the first transgender models to walk the runway during the Victoria's Secret show.
