For the holidays, we often want to make something beautiful, decorative, and delicious, and one of the most popular recipes is of course gingerbread cookies.
They are especially interesting for the youngest, who are eagerly waiting to try them.
Here's how to prepare them:
Ingredients:
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 3/4 tablespoon of baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 tablespoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Recipe for white dressing
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons of milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method of preparation
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, ginger, salt, and cloves. With a mixer, beat the sugar and butter for two minutes on medium speed until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined. Reduce the mixer speed and slowly add the flour mixture.
Divide the dough into two equal parts in the shape of a ball. Then flatten each ball by hand until you have a dough that is two centimeters thick. Wrap it in a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator for an hour and a half to harden.
Roll out the dough on a flat surface until you have a thin crust (less than half a centimeter). Then take the cookie cutters and cut out various shapes as desired. Do this until you have dough.
Line the pan you are going to arrange them on with baking paper. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 180 degrees. Remove from the oven and let them cool for five minutes.
Once they are cooled, you can start decorating them. In addition to the frosting, you can also add small cookie decorations in different shapes and colors.
If you want to have a topping in another color besides white, add a little food coloring if desired.
