"Iphigenia for Nothing" is the title of the first play that the ensemble of the National Drama Theatre Skopje began preparing in 2025.
The play "Iphigenia for Nothing" based on the text "Iphigenia of Aulis" by Euripides, is being adapted, directed and choreographed by Filip Petkovski. The scenography is being prepared by Martin Manev, the costume designer is Antonija Guginska Jordanoska. The music in the play is by the composer Boris Harfman from Croatia. The photography is by Marko Marjanović.
"The play gives a contemporary and post-dramatic twist to Euripides' story. By setting the narrative in the contemporary society in which we live, a parallel is drawn between antiquity and the modern era in which we live. This adaptation attempts to highlight the timeless nature of these themes and their importance in today's world," says director Filip Petkovski.
The characters in the play "Iphigenia for Nothing" are played by the actors of the Drama Theater: AGAMEMNON: Dimitrija Doksevski, MENELAUS: Filip Trajković, CLYTEMNESTRA: Jelena Žugić, IPHIGENEIA: Nina Elzeser, ACHILLES: Stefan Vujisić, ARTEMIDES: Sara Klimoska, ORESTES: Marjan Naumov, THE BOY/SAINT DEER: Tomislav Davidovski.
The choir consists of actresses Ivana Pavlaković, Anja Mitic, Jovana Spasić, Aleksandra Pavlova Bubanja and, as a guest, Jovana Miladinova.
